Gallery: Employees Show Results of Campus 'Spring Cleaning'
Every year during February and March, something amazing happens at college campuses across the country: People stop throwing things away. From coast to coast, the RecycleMania competition has college students, faculty and staff finding more ways to keep things out of the trash. On the University of Arizona campus, employees did their part by doing their “spring paper cleaning†during RecycleMania. All across campus, from Campus Recreation to the Southwest Institute for Research on Women, employees collected unneeded, unwanted, expired or out-of-date paperwork from around the office to put in a big blue bin – and captured the moment to post on the Sustainable UA Facebook page. From among all of the great submissions, a student committee chose Financial Management Services at UITS, which "recycled the princess way," as this year's winner. This year, the UA ranked 24th among 357 peer campuses nationwide in the RecycleMania competition, collecting almost half a million pounds of recyclable materials over eight weeks.
