The UA has initiated national searches for four senior leaders, three of whom will become members of President Ann Weaver Hart's cabinet: senior vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer, senior vice president for research, and vice president for strategic planning and analysis. The other search is for chief of the UA Police Department.

"These are critical positions within the University's leadership structure and we are thoughtfully and thoroughly conducting national searches to ensure we secure the best talent to help us realize our goals in these areas," Hart said. "As we work to execute and achieve the goals within our Never Settle strategic academic and business plan, we want to attract top talent and the right fit for our innovative culture at the University of Arizona."

A search committee, led by a University leader, is conducting the recruitment for each position. (Executive recruiting firms are assisting with the vice presidential searches.) The goal is to fill these positions quickly, with some possibly being filled by the end of the year. Currently, UA leaders are managing the responsibilities of these roles on an interim basis, until permanent talent is hired.

Here is the status of each of these searches:

Initial interviews will occur in mid-late January with selected candidates, then finalists will be scheduled for campus visits in February. The position is currently being advertised in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, Women in Higher Education and Hispanic Outlook in Education.
