Building on the University of Arizona's commitment to teaching, research and service, the Never Settle strategic plan lays the groundwork for the UA's continued success as a modern-day land-grant university.

"Never Settle" is not the new brand or motto for the UA, but rather the University’s academic strategic plan, which seeks to align strategic priorities across departments and units by focusing on four pillars: engaging, innovating, partnering and synergy.

The full text of the 2013-2018 plan is available on the Never Settle website at The site includes direct links to the full plan, a PowerPoint presentation and accompanying video, as well as downloadable PDFs of both the plan and PowerPoint.

"As Arizona's land-grant university we have, from Day One, had the responsibility to teach, to serve and to do research, and we have excelled in all three of those areas," says President Ann Weaver Hart. "As we move forward as a modern, 21st-century land-grant institution, it is necessary for us to take this mission to the next level. For example, it's no longer enough to just teach students in the classroom; we must also engage them in experiential learning opportunities that help prepare them for life after graduation."
